Rotherham United
IF Rotherham United get their home game on this Saturday - and they are to make every effort - then manager Ronnie Moore is likely to have the luxury of too many defenders to choose from!
It certainly will be a luxury - or a headache depending on how it is viewed - after a season which has seen defenders dropping out with increasing regularity and vacancies cropping up at the unlikeliest and most inconvenient of times.
Manager Ronn
ADVERTISEMENTie Moore finds himself with a full complement of defenders as he contemplates naming a side for the home game against Aldershot, Rotherham's first game since they drew 2-2 with Northampton on November 23.
Skipper Ryan Cresswell - who has twice had to pull out during the pre-match warm-up with a back problem - is available again after missing the last three matches.
With Nick Fenton also having shaken off a calf injury it means Moore has a selection issue in centre defence because Johnny Mullins, who had been playing right back, stood in successfully in centre defence in the last two matches.
With on loan Danny Coid seemingly set to pin down the right back spot it means that four into three won't go for Moore.
It may be more straightforward for him at left back where Tom Newey, suspended for the Northampton game, is expected to step back in for Jamie Green.
It all contrasts for Moore with matters earlier in the season. Fenton wasn't available for the first six matches and Mullins for the first four. Then Cresswell began to miss matches whilst Fenton also picked up a niggle that cost him appearances.
Fortunately, loan signing Exodus Geohaghon had an untroubled stay in the first three months of the season but Moore will be hoping the defensive holes that have kept cropping up are now a thing of the past.
