COUNCIL funding for next year's Rotherham Show could be slashed by a third.
The popular horticultural show could bear the brunt of the cuts . . . a report to Rotherham councillors has revealed that this year's event cost £11,000 to stage, but generated just £341 in entry fees.
And as the council looks to trim £11m from its annual spending, it is being suggested that the amount it contributes to the show should be slashed from £61,000 this year to £17,000 next year.

Personally I havent been to the Rotherham show for years and by the look of the £341 generated something's amiss, either scrap it or sit down and re think its lay out..A large car boot running in conjunction in the park for example would generate quite a bit of money in standing fees, especially over the three days, and for virtually no lay out plus it would attract people who otherwise would not attend
Sorry I read your OP wrong its the horticultural side that lost money.I stand by the car boot idea though ,from experience I know how much cash one of these can generate ,entry fee, standing, car park, money for old rope

We very rarely go to the show either as every year it's the same but i think your carboot idea is a great one we'd definitly go if there was a carboot area i could see us being buyers & sellers to be honest i think this would be a good money maker plus generate alot of interest maybe you should put your idea to the council what a great idea
