Can any body remember the youth club ran from the Spiritalist Church on Percy Street in the early sixties. It was run by a Mrs Mac from the main road at Canklow. I used to get half a crown {12 1/2 pence} to go, That just covered bus fares, subscriptions and maybe a mars bar. Sometimes when my Mother did,nt have change she would give me two florins {four shillings}, That meant I could go to the Sass shop and get a pint of saspirella or maybe a pint of hot blackcurrant with my mates. Heaven.
