POLICE are hunting a "respectable" elderly gent in conection with theft of cash from a bank machine.
A 37-year-old mum was using the cashpoint at Stag's Barclay's bank when she was distracted hy the cries of her three-month-old child and moved away from the machine without removing her card or cancelling the transaction.
She didn't realise until she got home and a check with the bank revealed £100 had been taken from her account.
She says the grey-haired elderly man behind must have taken the money.
The mum of four, from Broom, asked to remain anonymous, but said: “This guy was queued up behind me and he watched me struggling with the kids.
“He even gave me a smile me as I walked off, but it must have been him that used my card.
“It would have still been in the machine when he got to it and there’s no way he could have used his own without taking mine out first.
“He looked like a respectable man in his 60s but, at the end of the day, he’s stolen from my kids ahead of Christmas and that’s unforgivable. Who would do that?”
Police are investigating the incident, which happened on November 19, and anyone who knows anything about it is asked to contact Pc Kim Taylor on 0114 220 2020.
